This is a simple project that came about due to an accident. We had a broken tile in the half bath and once it was replaced and regrouted, we realized the grout from our kitchen backsplash was used by accident. The light gray grout used in the kitchen was a stark contrast from the darker grout used on the bathroom tile floor.
At first, I planned to fix the light grout to match the rest of the floor. But before I did that, I realized I liked the lighter grout. It just looked cleaner. I picked up Polyblend Grout Renew in Snow White from Home Depot. I used a small container to hold the product, a toothbrush, and wet paper towels. It’s a painstaking task but fortunately the room is small and I only had a small area to do. It’s easier if you do one grout joint and then wipe the excess off the tile while it’s still wet. You just have to go slowly, one section at a time.
You can change the color of grout altogether, as I did, or just refresh your current color if the grout lines are stained or dirty. It’s a great solution for updating a floor, shower, or backsplash.
This turned out to be a happy accident because the floor looks so much better. What have you refreshed or renewed lately? Had any accidents that led to a better solution?
