Hi, I’m Vidya from Whats Ur Home Story. I came across Jae and her fabulous blog through Young House Love’s House Crashing feature. The more I saw of her home the more I was blown away. I’m super excited to be here today to share my favorite projects in our home.
Starting off with a project that is very close to our hearts, the gallery wall in our office was made using post cards sent by a friend, kids’ first school portraits, our wedding invitation, and personal mementos like my husband’s World Trade Center I ID card. That gallery pretty much sums up half of our lives together as a family. The memories this gallery brings every time I look at it makes me appreciate and be thankful for everything we have and are in life.
[I know you are wondering what the movie reels are doing in a home office, right? You can read more about it here.]
My first outing in stenciling, a 11 hr marathon that lasted till the wee hrs of the morning, comes in a close second. The tone on tone stenciling, using a flat and high gloss finish, of the same paint color gave me the subtle, yet elegant, look that I was after in our dining room.
My most popular project, the container water garden, is a summer time favorite in the WUHS household. I’ve had it on my deck for two summers in a row now. It is a win-win for all. I get to enjoy the blooms and the kids get to spend hrs watching the bright colored mollies nibbling away at the lily stems.
Rounding out the list is my latest project, our basement guest bedroom makeover. The room is in the process of evolving from a bland, builder white box to a fun neutral (Oh yeah, neutral can be fun in the right dose ) retreat. I just finished up the headboard wall last week with yet another stenciling project.
Oh by the way, since we are on the topic of stenciling, if you would like a chance at winning a $50 stencil from Royal Design Studio then you can enter the giveaway on my blog.
Hope ya’ll had fun taking a look inside our home (and can overlook the shameless giveaway plug and hop on over for a detailed look ). I sure had a ball sharing it with all of you Design OCD readers and the amazingly talented Jae. Thanks again Jae for the opportunity!
That water garden is lovely! Thanks to Vidya for sharing the favorite items in her home! I’ll have to do my own faves round up soon – it’s hard though because my favorites change! What about you – what are some of your favorite features in your home?
