For a quick makeover, consider painting your front door a fresh, new color.   Usually, you can paint your door in under 30 minutes so it’s an easy and quick way to make a bold first impression.   As of last year,  our front door is yellow (Martha Stewart Cornbread) and I love it.   It’s different, yet complements the traditional style of the house.   Before going with your favorite color, of say hot pink, take a moment to consider the style of your house, the style of the neighborhood, and the colors already engaged.  There’s bound to be a way to personalize your home,  boost curb appeal, and not look out of place.

One of my friends had a basic black front door that she recently decided to change.

She took inspiration from one of her plant pots and painted the door a fresh coat of bright green.   It works well because it coordinates with the abundant greenery in the yard.
If you’re going to paint your front door, choose a durable, exterior finish, such as gloss, semi-gloss, or satin (gloss having the highest sheen). If your front door sees a lot of sun, you may also want to consider using porch floor enamel paint since it is resistant to fading.

So, what color is YOUR front door?

I love the vibrant green although I will be honest I am still not brave enough to do it!

Thanks for sharing the Porch Floor enamel paint suggestion for a door that is getting full sun – I have 2 that face the sun all day long and it consitantly fades, streaks, etc. I am going to try this out!

  3. Love it! That is such a refreshing and unique color for a door.
