So remember when I said the door painting saga was not quite over? That’s because after I snappily painted the interior of the door black, and then took a quick photo, I realized a couple of unfortunate things.See that sheen? I didn’t like it. That was the first unfortunate observation.
I painted the first coat with a brush. Of course, it needed another coat. But I decided to paint the second coat on with a foam roller. That was a bummer because that coat dried with air bubbles. So, the small crater like finish was the second unfortunate observation. Why did this happen? The exterior of the door was also painted with a semi gloss paint. Maybe it’s because the paint I used was too old. It was several years old. Or maybe I should have used a different nap for rolling.
The good (?) thing is it was peeling easily. So it was easy to scrape off. But man, who wants to do double the work for something that should be simple to paint? So I scraped the paint off the door and then lightly sanded.I repainted, using a brush, in an eggshell finish and I like it much better.
By the way, you can see my other black interior doors here. How about you? Any painting fiascos? How did you remedy the situation?
